Body length : 13-18mm.
Found in a wide range of habitats, such as forests, grasslands, meadows, gardens, parks and farmland.
Prefers moist, humus-rich soil but can also tolerate slightly drier areas.
The larvae are predatory and live in the soil and litter layer or under decaying wood.
