Found in open, warm and dry habitats with abundant herbaceous vegetation, such as flower-rich grasslands, steppe-like areas, roadsides, dry riverbanks and wasteland.
The larvae develop in the stems and root crown of plants of the family Boraginaceae, especially Anchusa sp., Echium sp. and Symphytum sp.
