Body length : 9-15mm.

This species is difficult to distinguish from C. obscura and C. liburnica.

Cantharis paradoxa and C. obscura can be distinguished by photo, by the shape of the pronotum but it is highly susceptible to error due to the photographic perspective.

Cantharis liburnica is mostly found in Eastern Europe.

Further examination recommended.

The larvae are predatory. They usually live in leaf litter, moss or under bark and feed on small invertebrates.
