Host plant : Polyphagous on conifers.
Found in pine forests, coniferous woodlands, clear-cuts, forest edges and sawmill yards.
The larvae develop in the roots, root collar, stumps and lower trunk of recently dead or dying conifers.
Mainly on Pinus sp. but also Abies sp., Chamaecyparis sp., Cryptomeria sp., Larix sp., Picea sp. and Pseudotsuga sp.
