Male and female.
Body length : 8-20mm.
Host plant : Oligophagous on conifers.
Found in coniferous forests but especially associated with wooden structures, such as roof timbers and old buildings.
The larvae develop in dry dead wood.
Mainly conifers, such as Abies sp., Larix sp., Picea sp. and Pinus sp.
Records from deciduous trees are rare and exceptional.
