Body length : 3,2 – 3,3mm.
The head has this characteristic black marking and is wider than the shiny pronotum.
Pronotum is yellow with black markings, varying somewhat.
The larvae are predatory. They usually live in decaying wood or under loose bark of dead trees and feed on small invertebrates.
